Ausgelassen Standard Schnauzers
Our Policies:
Please review Ausgelassen SS's policies BEFORE contacting us with interest in a puppy.
1. Ausgelassen SS takes pride in their knowledge and experience with the Standard Schnauzer breed. They are not a breed for everyone, requiring regular grooming, training, and of course lots of love. That being said, we reserve the right to not place a puppy in an environment we do not feel is best for the puppy. Generally we prefer to place puppies in a house with a physical fence, children over the age of 6, and apartments/multi-unit homes will be considered on a case by case basis.
2. If you are interested in a puppy, you must complete and submit an application. Our application is a questionnaire to help us get to know you, your family, and your preferences in a puppy. This allows us to pair you properly with the right puppy when the time comes. You can request an application via email. Please note, submitting an application does not guarantee a puppy. Ausgelassen SS reserves the right to reject an application if we feel our puppies do not match an applicant. All approved applications will be filed to our waiting list for future litters.
3. This is NOT an adoption. Every puppy from Ausgelassen SS is a live-animal sale with a legal purchasing contract. We strongly suggest requesting a copy of our contract before requesting an application if you are unsure you will be able to fulfill the conditions.
4. Ausgelassen SS does not offer/sell breeding rights. All puppies will be sold on a companion-contract with AKC Limited Registration only. This will only be reconsidered should we have an applicant seeking to show a puppy in conformation. In such circumstances, puppies will be sold with a show/competition contract wherein Ausgelassen SS will maintain co-ownership of the puppy until contract conditions, including appropriate OFA health testing have been fulfilled.
5. All puppies will be sold on a spay/neuter contract, unless under a show contract. Owners will be contractually obligated to spay/neuter their puppy between the ages of 24 months to 36 months. The buyer will be required to provide a spay/neuter certification copy upon request.
6. All puppies will be sold with natural ears, tails docked, and dew claws removed. Ear cropping can be done upon request. The cost of the ear cropping will be added to the puppy price of $2500.
7. All puppies will come with a 2 year health guarantee against congenital defects: DCM, hereditary eye disease, hip/elbow dysplasia. Early spay and neuter, or breeding on limited registration void 1 year health guarantee. Puppies will have veterinarian exam stating they are healthy on day of pick up, up-to-date on shots, de-worming, and micro-chipped.
8. Ausgelassen SS will take back a dog/puppy of any age and re-home it as necessary. If at any time you are unable to keep the dog we reserve the right of first refusal and the dog shall be returned to us. We will evaluate future homes for the dog and you may not rehome the dog without our consent. We do not legally allow dogs from our kennel to be released to a shelter or rescue for any reason.
9. We will begin taking $1500 deposits to reserve puppies, once the pups are 2 weeks old. The deposit will go towards final cost of the puppy. No puppy is promised to any person until 8 weeks old. A deposit confirms commitment to a litter, not a particular puppy. Final balance is due at pick up.
10. We strongly prefer in-person pickup of puppies. We may offer turn around service to puppy buyers flying in on a case by case basis and with as much advance notice as possible. With impeccable references we may evaluate shipment by professional handler known to Ausgelassen SS.
11. All Ausgelassen SS puppies will come with an AKC registered name picked by myself and the buyer according to the litter's theme. This registered name cannot be changed; however, owners may call their puppy by whatever name they choose.
12. All owners of an Ausgelassen SS puppy will be obligated to commit to their training. Owners must complete at least 1 puppy/dog obedience class offered by a certified dog trainer. A well-behaved dog does not simply happen on its own. It takes time and persistence on the owners part, often with the aid of a professional trainer.
